about the foundation
Hampton Delta Foundation, Incorporated
Hampton Delta Foundation, Incorporated serves the Hampton Roads and surrounding localities. It was established in 1999 by members of the Hampton Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. however, it is a separate community service entity and not connected to the Hampton Alumnae Chapter.
The Foundation received 501c3 status in June, 2002 and in 2019, the Foundation celebrated its 20th anniversary and purchased property located at 1999 W. Pembroke Avenue in Hampton, Virginia. Most corporate members are affiliated with the local chapter; however, the Board of Directors includes non-Delta members. Many of our services benefit the entire community.
The Foundation:
- Donates annually to the United Way Charities and Habitat for Humanity.
- Funds programs that support enhancing the lifestyles of the elderly.
- Funds activities to support and stimulate interest in cultural activities among the youth and adults in the Peninsula-area community.
- Gives thousands of dollars annually in college scholarships to local high school students.
- Funds programs that mentor local middle and high school teens of low to moderate income families.
- Funds the education component of the Delta Academy and Delta GEMS programs (which primarily service children at risk).

In 2020, Hampton Delta Foundation, Incorporated made history.
Through the generosity of our community and the power of collective giving, we purchased our building at 1999 W. Pembroke Avenue — a meaningful address that mirrors the year we were founded. This space is more than four walls. It is where debutantes are prepared for their moment. Where seniors gather and feel seen. Where community partners come together to serve. Where our mission lives and breathes every single day.
We own this jewel outright. And now, we are committed to keeping it shining.
