The inaugural Red and White Cotillion was held in 2005 and became the Foundation’s signature event. Since its beginning the Foundation has introduced more than 200 young women to society through the program and awarded more than $100,000 in scholarships. Each year the debutantes attend a variety of workshops that have included self-esteem and self-care, financial planning, etiquette, college life, and career planning. Additionally, they have completed community service activities and hosted a Mother-Daughter tea.
Board Members along with the Debutantes raise money that goes towards scholarships. The debutante participants must be a junior or senior in one of the Hampton Roads high schools.
The Hampton Delta Foundation, Incorporated was established in February 1999 by the Hampton Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated to raise tax exempt dollars to secure a building for community-based programs and initiatives.
Steeped in rich tradition, the Debutante Program fosters a sense of community, education and service among young women and their families.
Every donation helps fund scholarships, youth mentoring, senior support, and community programs that create meaningful opportunities and strengthen lives across the Peninsula.
Register to participate in our programs, events, and initiatives that inspire learning, leadership, and stronger community connections for all generations.
